After days of bouncing between various cities, it was time to slow things down a bit. Two weeks in Krakow was exactly what we needed. We rented the perfect Airbnb! Our place was about a 10-minute walk to the main square, the grocery store and a green market just around the corner, and minutes from Vistula river with its romantic riverside walk and view of the gorgeous castle.
The river drew us out almost daily for leisurely walks.
And there was the Planty! One of the largest city parks in Krakow that encircles the old town. It was one of our favorite places to stroll and Kasm certainly enjoyed riding his scooter along this path 🙂
Walking along the river, it’s hard to resist the pull of the Wawel castle and we finally spent a day exploring this Unesco site.
A memorial to a Jewish family that lived in the house for nearly 300 years! Did you know Schindler’s list was partly filmed in Kazimierz, the Jewish district of Krakow?
The most charming part of the city is the old square. We would somehow always end up here during our outings.
There are many parks and green spaces in Krakow and we did venture out further.
We always manage to find a bookstore wherever we are. Massolit Books & Cafe is well worth a visit if you are in Krakow.
Oh did I mention we went to a football (soccer) match in Krakow? Personally, I don’t know anything about the game. I love watching Kasm play and that’s about it! The stadium was just a 5-minute walk from our apartment and we thought, why not!
Some random photos around town.
We don’t hear a lot about Krakow but I can tell you we very much enjoyed it. Charming, good hearty food, wonderful places to walk and plenty of history. It was a bright spot on our already well-lit trip.
Beautiful buildings! Does the Kosciuszko Mound really open into a mound?
No 🙂 , Picture is rather deceiving. The building is in-front of the mound which is manmade to commemorate the Polish national leader Tadeusz Kościuszko.
Absolutely a wonderful journey as a family, filled with so many memories only you three will know. Have a fantastic remainder of your journey.
