A Visit To The Guggenheim Museum

My Family and I went to the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao Spain. When we got there I was impressed by how crazy that building was, and in front of it was a huge bear-shaped sculpture that was made out of flowers!

But unfortunately, we couldn’t really see the outside of the building much because it was pouring rain outside. Once we walked in it was absolutely amazing what inside of it looked like. The designer of this incredible building is Frank Gehry a famous Canadian .

The first room we walked into after getting our audio guide and tickets was a huge room designed by Richard Serra. Massive swirly plates of metal and it was so weird that when the curves were tilting towards the right it felt like you were also being pushed to the right and at the end you got to a big room and you felt like you couldn’t get out of it. This exhibition was called Matter Of Time.

We then visited the Andy Warhol Exhibit. Let me tell you a little bit about him. Andy Warhol was a very famous painter of the 60s and the 70s and his paintings are still very famous. In the museum, there is a whole room full of his pictures but all of the pictures are the same just different colors.

At the end, we went to the third floor  (the second floor was closed) to see all the paintings by Picasso, Andy Warhol, Henry Matisse and more. They were very interesting but I wasn’t allowed to take any photographs.

If you are ever in Bilbao, Spain, you should definitely visit this museum as it’s very cool.

  1. I had no idea that Frank Gehry is Canadian! When I was the same age as you and I visited Pittsburgh USA for a few months (that was quite the adventure for a kid from 1980s Beijing). It turned out that I went to Andy Warhol’s elementary school there. It was in a low income neighborhood because we had no money just like Andy Warhol’s family, but everyone was so warm and kind.
