Ferrari started by one guy named Enzo Ferrari. I’m going to tell you a little about him.
He was born in Modena, Italy on February 18, 1898. When he was a kid, he had a huge passion for cars. He decided he wanted to be a race car driver at the age of 10.
He fought in WWI as a fighter pilot but was discharged because of the flu and that’s when he went to work for FIAT as a test driver in 1918.
In 1929, he formed the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix Racing team for Alfa Romeo but 10 years later he left Alfa Romeo because they were having financial problems so he started his own company called Auto Costruzion Modena. The symbol of Ferrari comes from his squadron in WWI.
The F40 and The Enzo were both built in dedication to Enzo Ferrari.
Now 50% of Ferrari is owned by FIAT.
Enzo died in Maranello on August 14, 1988 at the age of 90. We also visited the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.
Here’re some of my pictures from our visit to the Ferrari Museums
Cool article! Beautiful cars!
You have the coolest school trips! My favourite is the “oldie”.
Good writing and great photos. You took those? Excellent eye! My friend was drooling over the photos but wondered if you saw a fastback where the car is long with the cab way at the back. I think he said it was a Ferrari 250 or 258. Sound familiar?
Hi. Thank you! I did take all these pictures except the cover photo which is my dad’s. I think I saw Ferrari 258 at the first Museum but I don’t have a picture of it.
Hi Kasm – it is really nice to read about some of the places you are visiting. Enjoy the trip and say hi to your parents for us.
