We visited the Brodie Castle in Forres Scotland. We took a bus from our town down the highway and then walked through some farms to get to the Castle. The Castle had lots of different rooms. First room was full of old armour, swords, Springfields and more. My Mom took this picture of me before she realized we aren’t allowed to take photos in the Castle.
I was disappointed that we couldn’t take pictures but my parents bought me the guide so I can read and learn more about the castle and my mom scanned some pictures from the book for me to put here.
After the Armour room, we went into a huge library and they had lots of books.
They did a cool thing and put a little lego figure in each room so I had to look for them every time we went into a room.
In the dining room they had dishes and cutlery with the name of their family crest which is suppose to be “Unite”, but when the workers in china painted them, they made a mistake and put “Untie” on two plates which is the opposite of Unite.
We visited a lot of different rooms in the castle and had a really good guide that told us all about the castle.
There was a painting of a lady that lived in the house and died in a fire. They repainted the arm which her finger pointing up to say she died and went to heaven. It was freaky because she was also pointing to the room that she died in.
Here’s a list of all the family members of the Brodie family. They lived in that Castle for a very long time but now it is a museum but they kept it looking like a house which is very cool.
Hi Kasm. I love castles. Do uou know if the family still lives there and if there is a 26th Brodie? The family chart doesn’t say.
Great job!
Hi,
No, the 25th Brodie (Ninian Brodie ) sold the place to the National Trust of Scotland. I don’t think there is a 26th Brodie. I love Castles too!
no Brodie born Within Brodie lands can ever be head of clan
My grandfather is Thomas Gillian Brodie my mother just happens to be the true head of Clan
Hi Damien. Thank you for your comment. Our 9-year-old son, who wrote this article was quite excited to see your comment. We all enjoyed our tour of the castle!
Very inspiring for home decoration! 😉 The “Untie” is too funny.
Yes there is part of the family branched off to the Americas years ago
