My Basque Adventure – Saint-Jean-De-Luz & Biarritz

My family and I spent just over a week in Saint-Jean-De-Luz and  Biarritz which is in the Basque region of France. It is located in the southwest of France and also the northeast of Spain which we plan to explore in the next two weeks. The Basque people refer to this region as Euska Herria. They even have their own language. This area was settled a very long time ago and there is even evidence of it from the roman times.

I had a lot of fun here mainly because of the ocean. There were huge waves that tossed me around like a little squirrel and some even flipped me over! It actually hurt a lot but I loved it!! Here’s a little video my mom took of me when I was at the beach – The waves definitely won!

We went for a very long hike along the coast from a town called Bidart towards where we are staying which is Saint-Jean-De-Luz. IT WAS 14 KM LONG!!! We got to see a lot of surfers out on the ocean surfing some pretty huge waves. The scenery was amazing and my dad took some really nice photos which I am using here in this post because I didn’t take any pictures.

We also did a few short walks around the town and along the boardwalk. The town is very pretty with cobblestone streets and lots of shopping. There are some delicious looking chocolate stores. There is one even with a chocolate fountain!

But my favorite thing overall was that I got to see my dream car, a Ferrari 458 ITALIA. By far my favorite car that exists in the entire world. The car was parked in front of our apartment and I wanted to take a photo but when we got back from the Market it was gone and I was very disappointed. But… The next day, I saw it parked just around the corner from the main street and my dad took this picture of me with it. Pretty cool eh!
